There are 6 existing three-bedroom houses on a 2,242 square meter site, which are to be replaced with 18 one-bedroom, 18 two-bedroom and 9 three-bedroom units dispersed throughout 3 separate apartment blocks proposed for the site. We worked on a multidisciplinary team to deliver the resource consent and building consent documentation required for the landscape, which included the planting and hardscape design for the street frontages of the, a shared access lane and carpark, shared gardens and open space and 15 ground floor private lot landscapes. There is a lot to take into consideration when designing apartment landscapes for social housing providers, we must achieve the urban design objectives required by the council, which are particularly rigorous for buildings 3 levels and higher, whilst providing low cost, low maintenance, safe, functional, durable and attractive solutions for our clients and their tenants.
